Koa is a very handsome 2.7-year old black & tan male German Shepherd dog that was an owner surrender to our program.

Koa was very well cared for and loved in his prior home; however, due to life circumstances, they were unable to keep him, and sought out the assistance of GSRNC in helping to find him another loving home.

Koa can be little exuberant when meeting other dogs, but just wants to play. He would really love to have a doggie companion in his adoptive home, but we believe he would also do well as an only dog. He supposedly likes children; however, this has not been tested.

Koa does have some basic obedience training, but would benefit from a refresher course. He is crate trained, walks well on a leash with a prong collar, and has great house manners. For such a big dog, he loves to cuddle, and will not hesitate to join you on the couch if allowed.

He did not test well with cats, so an adoptive home without small dogs or other critters will be a must.

It will be necessary for an adopter to have experience in raising a GSD or other large working breed dog, as well as continue with obedience training, based upon positive re-enforcement, to help Koa maintain his already great skills, and remain a well-behaved canine citizen.

Koa is a Level 3 dog who is spending some time at our boarding kennel.
