Meet handsome boy Saturday. Saturday was an owner surrender who came into the SJACC along with his brother Sunday. Sunday was adopted out which left Saturday depressed and lonely at the shelter. Even though he was highly adoptable, the shelter reached out to us so that we could help get Saturday out of the shelter where he was not thriving.
Saturday is shy with dogs and people. It is clear that he has not been exposed to a lot of things in life. He needs socialization and training to build confidence. Saturday has not had much training although he is easy to handle, walks well on a leash and responds well to light corrections. Saturday is just starting to learn how to play with toys. He is very respectful toward his foster brother GSD and sister Bichon. Saturday is crate trained and prefers to sleep in his crate. He is trusted to sleep with the door open. Saturday is house trained as well.
Saturday is currently living in a foster home in San Jose where he is living with another male GSD and a female Bichon. Saturday does ride really well in a car and is trusted to stay there, uncrated, for a short period of time. Saturday is also treat motivated which will make training easier.
Saturday is a level 3 dog and will need an adopter who will be committed to his training to ensure Saturday becomes a good citizen dog.
