Petie came in from a Sacramento area shelter in need of TLC. He LOVES every person he meets (including kids), and is extremely social and affectionate. He has a cute way about him that will bring smiles to you everyday.
Petie’s foster mom says he is a really good boy. She is letting him tag along everywhere she goes, including to dog nosework events where he easily blends in. He is crate trained, housebroken, sleeps through the night, sits for treats, walks well on leash, has good recall and can spend time alone when needed.
Petie enjoys play time with his foster buddies that have included several GSDs and currently includes two retrievers. He respects the adult female and has a blast romping with the 1-year old male. They play tug and tag, and even make toys out of things like lemons; ridiculously cute and fun to watch. He likes hard chew toys too.
Petie is living with a cat that he is interested in chasing for fun if it runs, but he responds to correction and redirection so we think he is cat workable with appropriate introduction and monitoring.
Petie sometimes is barky out of insecurity when on leash and sees a dog from afar but usually calms when close enough to greet. He will benefit from confidence and trust building through training and exposure, ideally in a puppy training class.
Petie is very adaptable and responsive to positive correction. He is very attentive when spoken to and his focused eye contact seems to imply he understands every word you are saying.
Petie is a Level 3 pup being fostered in Dixon.
