Sargento is a very handsome 1-year old black & tan male German Shepherd dog that was an owner surrender to our program.

Sarge was very well cared for and loved in his prior home; however, due to life circumstances, they were unable to keep him, and sought out the assistance of GSRNC in helping to find him another loving home.

Sarge was a bit nervous when we first met him, but is starting to expand his horizons. He will still need lots of socialization with people, and is becoming quite comfortable around other dogs, and wants to play. He would really love to have a doggie companion in his adoptive home, but we believe he would also do well as an only dog. In his prior home, he lived with three children and did great.

Sarge just completed a board and train program, so has learned some basic obedience, however, it will be necessary for an adopter to continue this course. He is crate trained, walks fairly well on a leash with a prong collar (will need more work in this area), and has great house manners. He loves to cuddle, and will not hesitate to join you on the couch if allowed.

His reaction to cats or other small critters is unknown at this time.

It will be necessary for an adopter to have experience in raising a GSD or other large working breed dog, as well as continue with obedience training, based upon positive re-enforcement, to help Sarge remain a well-behaved canine citizen.

Sargento is a Level 3 dog who is being fostered in the Santa Cruz mountains.
