Shelbie is a stray found on Highway 101

Shelbie is a sweet 7 1/2 year-old female German Shepherd who was picked up by animal control. Why she wasn’t claimed is a mystery, as she has beautiful house manners.

Shelbie is house trained and crate trained. She has been left alone in her crate for several hours without incident and will sleep in her crate overnight. She doesn’t get up on the furniture and while she loves affection, she isn’t demanding.

Shelbie loves a game of fetch and going for walks. She can pull on the lead when out for walks and her adopter will need to work on this with her. Shelbie loves going for car rides and patiently waits by herself in back seat while her foster parents run errands. Shelbie is also quite happy to snooze while her people are nearby or hang out in the yard.

Shelbie is deaf due to neglect of her ears. Her other senses are acute and compensate well for her. Shelbie’s new family will have to be willing to use hand signals, as Sheblie cannot hear verbal commands.

Shelbie can be bossy and is dog reactive, so it is best if she is an only dog. Continued obedience training will be needed as Shelbie barks at other dogs.

Shelbie would like to move to her forever home. She is a sweet dog who will be a lovely addition to the right home.

Shelbie is being fostered in San Francisco.
